About Us

Blakes Crossing Veterinary Surgeries are a privately owned group of surgeries based in the Northern Suburbs of Adelaide

Our Blakes Crossing surgery is located in the heart of Blakes Crossing just off Craigmore Road and is operated 24/7 to provide affordable, after hours emergency care.

The practice was founded by Doctors Trevor Baker and Louise Bower who together have more than 50 years of combined Veterinary experience. Our purpose built facility was established in 2011 and has now expanded to provide a wide range of services in multiple areas including hospitalisation, breeding, surgery and behaviour.

Our sister clinic Blakes Tiver Road was established in 2017 located on the corner of Main North Road and Tiver Road. As well as consults and surgery here is where we provide our grooming and boarding services, puppy preschool and personal behavioural consults.

Our veterinary clinic has played an important role in providing quality and affordable cat for thousands of our clients’ cats & dogs, rabbits & guinea pigs, birds, and even a few snakes.

Veterinary services during COVID-19 Lock down

Blake's Veterinary Surgeries will offer essential services and products for the health and welfare of animals during the South Australian lockdown.

The current lockdown direction issued by the State Coordinator on 21 July 2021 restricts us to providing essential services and products. It does not permit us to provide non-essential services or products.

Under the lockdown direction, veterinary surgeons and staff are only allowed to leave their homes during stay-at-home restrictions to perform work:

    • Where there is a genuine animal welfare issue; or
    • For the purpose of artificial insemination of an animal.

Members of the community are only allowed to attend a veterinary clinic to obtain an essential service or for an essential reason.

Until the lock down ends, we cannot, by law, provide non-essential services or products. All appointments for these purposes will need to be rescheduled with us.

If you are unsure whether a visit to our clinic is essential, please telephone us on 0872313000 / 0872313099, and we will assist you.

If you do need to come into the clinic, can you please assist us by checking in, wearing a mask and waiting outside if our reception area is busy.

Thank you for your understanding. As always, we are here for the health and welfare of your animals.

COVID-19 Policy:

Safety of our patients, clients and staff is important to us at Blakes Crossing. Please make sure you follow these steps before coming to our clinic to ensure everyones visit is safe:

  • Ensure social distancing can be maintained in reception and in the consult rooms. If social distancing cannot be maintained in the reception we ask kindly that you please wait outside
  • Minimise the amount of family members and friends entering the clinic with an animal to reduce the number of bodies in the clinic unless prior arrangements have been discussed

We ask you to please stay at home if:

  • You are unwell, have a fever or are experiencing flu-like or COVID-19 symptoms
  • You have travelled interstate or overseas within the last month
  • You have been in contact with someone in the last 14 days who has flu-like or COVID-19 symptoms or who has tested positive to COVID-19
  • You have been asked to quarantine

If any of the above applies to you and your pet requires medical attention please call the clinic first so we can make alternative arrangements.
